Adam Kinzinger—yeah, that guy who’s been acting like the superhero of democracy—got a serious reality check from Scott Jennings. And let me tell you, it was like watching a cat try to swim.
Kinzinger strutted in claiming both parties “always accepted the presidential election” results until Donald Trump came along in 2020. Seriously? Cue the eye rolls. Jennings didn’t hold back, dropping some history bombs about how Democrats have challenged election outcomes way more than they’d like to admit. Spoiler alert: They’ve done it a lot.
Jennings reminded everyone that Democrats objected to electoral votes in 2000, 2004, and 2016—yep, every time a Republican took the White House this century. It’s almost like they can’t handle losing gracefully! Remember back in 2000 when they were still salty over Florida? Yeah, they went all out trying to contest George W. Bush’s victory.
Fast forward to 2004: despite Bush winning Ohio by a solid margin, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer and Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones filed formal objections. And then there was 2016; oh boy! Instead of graciously accepting Trump’s win, Democrats were throwing accusations around like confetti at a parade. Russian interference? Check! Objections during certification? Double-check!
So here comes Kinzinger again, trying to save face by saying he’s “never seen the speaker or leader of the Democrats” challenge results directly. Nice pivot there, Adam! But honestly? It doesn’t matter who led those objections; actions speak louder than words—and Dems have been playing the same game they now pretend is so undemocratic.
What really cracked me up was Kinzinger trying to draw some moral line between what Republicans and Democrats do regarding election challenges. Sure, Ted Cruz and others raised concerns about mail-in voting and integrity in 2020—but come on! The Dems’ objections often felt like political theater with extra drama thrown in for good measure.
And then there’s Jennings again refusing to let Kinzinger off easy; he pressed him hard on his own admission that yes—Democrats did raise objections in those elections too! But guess what? They want us all to forget their little tantrums so they can keep waving their moral flag high.
You know what this whole saga shows us? That questioning elections isn’t anything new for Democrats—they just want everyone else to think Trump’s claims were unprecedented or something straight out of a horror movie script. Well newsflash: people aren’t as forgetful as they hope!
So next time someone tells you about how terrible Republicans are for challenging elections? Just remind them that history has a funny way of repeating itself—and sometimes it’s got an embarrassing twist for one party over another.
Well, that’s my coffee-fueled rant for today! What do you think about all this?
