Democrat Judge’s Wild Misstep Exposed in an Illegal Alien Scandal
A scandal has erupted in New Mexico. A Democratic county magistrate judge just couldn’t keep his affairs in order. Federal agents stormed his property and found more than he bargained for.
Last month, Homeland Security raided Judge Joel Canó’s place. They uncovered a 23-year-old Venezuelan national and suspected Tren de Aragua gang member, Cristhian Ortega-Lopez. The illegal alien was arrested on gun charges.
An official press release states:
HSI initiated an inquiry into Cristhian Ortega-Lopez in January 2025, following an anonymous tip. Ortega-Lopez, an illegal alien from Venezuela suspected of being affiliated with Tren de Aragua, was allegedly residing with other illegal aliens in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and had been in possession of firearms.
The investigators determined Ortega-Lopez had entered the United States illegally on Dec. 15, 2023, and was released pending removal proceedings. Social media evidence showed Ortega-Lopez in possession of multiple firearms at a shooting range in Las Cruces.
Ortega-Lopez is charged by criminal complaint with being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm or ammunition.
The judge’s property wasn’t supposed to be a haven. Yet, the illegal immigrant set up residence on a smaller property behind the judge’s own house in Las Cruces. Court filings reveal he first met the judge’s wife when working as a handyman.
Things got even messier. The illegal became cozy with the judge’s stepdaughter. She even allowed him to shoot her weapons and, unbelievably, post pictures of him posing with them on social media. Meanwhile, images surfaced of the judge smiling broadly while posing with the illegal and his crew. Video footage shows the judge casually hanging out with the immigrant and even handing him a rifle.
Ortega-Lopez admitted to firing the weapons. Now, he faces serious charges. If convicted, he could spend up to 15 years in prison.
This case comes at a time when Democrats are crying foul over the deportation of a suspected MS-13 gang member by the Trump administration. Conservatives are quick to point out the hypocrisy. They argue that Democrats’ moral high ground crumbles when their own allies get caught in illegal activities.
Conservatives say it’s time to keep up the pressure. They insist that the Democratic Party should be held accountable for its missteps and questionable associations.
