White House restricts AP access from Oval Office as media responds

Trump Takes a Stand Against Biased Media

President Trump isn’t messing around this time. The media’s left-wing bias is getting called out bluntly. The Associated Press has officially lost its special pass to the Oval Office and Air Force One briefings.

Why? Simple. The AP refuses to acknowledge the lawful policy change renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. No excuses. No negotiations.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich made it crystal clear on Friday. And he didn’t mince words. “The Associated Press continues to ignore the lawful geographic name change of the Gulf of America,” Budowich wrote on X. “This decision is not just divisive, but it also exposes the Associated Press’ commitment to misinformation.”

Boom. Mic drop.

Now, before the media starts crying foul about “press freedom,” let’s spell it out: the First Amendment protects the right to publish, not the privilege of front-row access. The AP got used to special treatment. That treatment came at a cost – bias and false narratives.

This isn’t the first time the Trump administration has pushed back. Time and again, the AP has ignored the new terminology regarding the Gulf of America. When an AP reporter was denied entry to an Oval Office event on Tuesday for not using the new name, the drama was predictable. And when another AP journalist was barred from the Diplomatic Reception Room, the media went into a tizzy.

AP Executive Editor Julie Pace complained that the decision “severely impedes the public’s access to independent news.” Oh please. The AP has had it good for decades. Now it’s just upset that the Trump administration isn’t letting them steer the narrative for the radical left.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hit the nail on the head: “Nobody has the right to go into the Oval Office and ask the president of the United States questions.” Exactly. This isn’t a birthright – it’s a privilege that comes with responsibility.

If the AP wants that privilege back, maybe it should start reporting facts instead of fueling partisan spin. For now, they’ll have to settle for watching the action from the outside.
