Fox Adds a Familiar Face to Its Hit Panel
Fox News has named Emily Compagno as a permanent co-host of “The Five,” one of the network’s steady ratings winners. Compagno is not exactly being dropped into the chair by parachute. She has guest-hosted the show many times, so viewers have already seen how she fits with the table. Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino remain the only original hosts still with the program, while Jesse Watters is also part of the regular lineup. Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov continue as rotating hosts who fill the liberal seat, because apparently even cable news panels need a designated political piñata.
Her Official Start Date Is Set
Compagno is scheduled to make her official debut as a mainstay on “The Five” beginning Sept. 8. Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said the show remains “a powerhouse and appointment viewing for millions of Americans” fifteen years after its launch. Scott also called Compagno a “highly accomplished host” whose “energy and talent” have made her stand out across Fox News Media. That is corporate announcement language, of course, but in this case it is at least attached to a move viewers can actually recognize.
Compagno Calls It an Honor
Compagno said she “couldn’t be more honored” to join a team she has long admired and worked alongside over the years. She called the official seat at the table an “incredible privilege” and described “The Five” as what she believes is “the most fun show on television.” She will step down as co-host of “Outnumbered,” and Fox News personalities will rotate through her former seat until the network names a permanent replacement. Somewhere, a scheduling producer just felt a disturbance in the spreadsheet.

The Table Gets a New Regular
Dana Perino and the panel welcomed Compagno to the show on air, with Compagno reacting with joy and gratitude. The move gives “The Five” another established Fox News personality instead of a mystery hire, which is probably wise for a program built on chemistry, fast talk, and the daily sport of arguing about politics without pretending Washington is a model of calm reason.
