Cuomo Meets the Internet’s Memory
Adam Carolla said on his podcast that Chris Cuomo texted him after Carolla retweeted one of Cuomo’s COVID-era clips. According to Carolla, Cuomo’s message was along the lines of, “What’s up, bro? Like, what are you doing?” Carolla said his answer was simple: he was retweeting what Cuomo himself had said. That is the tricky thing about video. It just sits there, quietly waiting for the public-relations fog machine to break down.
Carolla Says the Old Scolding Had a Cost
Carolla argued that Cuomo and others said a lot of “stupid” things during COVID, and that people like him and Aaron Rodgers took heat because of it. He said many people do not like seeing the pandemic arguments “relitigated,” but his view was that those who attacked others at the time should not be surprised when their own words return later. In other words, yesterday’s lecture can become today’s receipt, which is a problem for anyone who thought the file cabinet had been burned.
The Clip Carolla Shared
The clip at issue was from a 2020 “Cuomo Prime Time” segment. In it, Cuomo criticized Dr. Scott Atlas and “the Trumpers” over questions about the COVID guidance connected to masks, social distancing, and isolating older people. The segment also warned that Thanksgiving could be someone’s “last” if people did not follow the guidance. Carolla’s caption on the repost was brief: “This aged nicely.” Corporate media spent years calling that kind of thing “context,” right up until the context started returning the favor.
