A California gas station assault is getting wide attention after attorney Tony Buzbee shared surveillance footage on Instagram on Saturday. Buzbee said the video shows an Amazon delivery driver confronting his 71-year-old client at an ARCO gas station in Elk Grove, California. The driver is seen getting close to the man and threatening him before the encounter turns violent. The footage appears to show the driver punching the senior citizen from behind, knocking him to the ground while gas station workers look on. The driver then walks away. Attorney Says It Started With a Parking Spot
According to Buzbee, the dispute began because the driver believed the older man had taken his parking spot. Buzbee described his client as a 71-year-old auditor of agricultural and animal production facilities who had stopped during his workday to use the bathroom and buy a soft drink. The attorney said the driver first confronted the man in the parking lot, then followed him into the store, and eventually attacked him from behind. The date on the surveillance footage appears to be March 30 of this year. That is a lot of escalation over asphalt, even by modern parking-lot standards.

Buzbee said his client is still being treated for neck pain and a concussion. He also said the driver was arrested and charged with felony battery and elder abuse, among other charges. Buzbee also claimed the driver had a history of violence and criticized Amazon’s hiring practices. He said his firm has filed a lawsuit against Amazon, and the civil case is on file in the Superior Court of California, Sacramento County. The case will now move through the courts, where claims can be tested, records can be reviewed, and corporate paperwork can enjoy its natural habitat.
