At the time, neither the White House nor the Department of War had publicly confirmed a new attack on Kharg Island’s oil facilities. Why Kharg Island Matters
Kharg Island is central to Iran’s energy industry. Before the war, it handled about 90 percent of the regime’s oil exports, according to the source report. That makes any claim of an attack there more than a passing headline. Confirmed U.S. Strike Came Earlier

U.S. Central Command said Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces were seen preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM called the operation a “limited, precise action” aimed at an “imminent threat” to civilian mariners, commercial ships, and international commerce. According to the Associated Press, CENTCOM said Iran created the threat and the U.S. military eliminated it to protect shipping and the free flow of global commerce.
Iran Fires Back Toward U.S. Bases
The Iranian regime later retaliated by firing ballistic missiles at two U.S. bases in Jordan. Jordan’s armed forces reportedly intercepted eight missiles that entered the country’s airspace. Nearly all of the incoming missiles were shot down, and no significant damage was immediately reported. Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst reported that Iran was firing ballistic missiles at American forces in Jordan, while also noting there were no reports of American casualties at that time.
