Katie Zacharia, whom President Donald Trump appointed as White House press secretary

Trump Confirms Katie Zacharia as New Press Secretary to Replace Karoline Leavitt

Trump Confirms the Appointment

President Donald Trump has confirmed Katie Zacharia as the next White House press secretary, replacing Karoline Leavitt. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said he was confident Zacharia would deliver strong results and work well with the media, the American people, and his administration. He also praised her current work as a senior communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates Truth Social. Trump called Leavitt fabulous and said she had done a fantastic job. The official praise was glowing enough to make a corporate award ceremony look restrained.

Zacharia Brings Government and Media Experience

Zacharia is a California native, attorney, Pepperdine University graduate, and graduate of the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. Trump said she previously served as a spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. She is also a frequent commentator on Fox News and Newsmax. Trump said she worked on his campaigns in key swing states, where he said the campaign won seven out of seven. Her current role with Trump Media gives her experience inside the president’s media operation before taking over the official briefing room.

The Timeline Had a Brief Bureaucratic Wobble

Before Trump’s confirmation, reports described the move as less settled. The New York Times reported that Zacharia had been chosen, citing two people familiar with the matter. A White House spokesperson told The Gateway Pundit that Zacharia had been offered the position but provided no further details. At that stage, it was unclear whether she had accepted the job or when she would begin. Trump’s later statement settled the appointment question, although it did not give a start date. Government announcements occasionally arrive in stages, apparently so every office can have a turn at being unclear.

Leavitt Moves to Fox News

Leavitt left the press secretary position in August after giving birth to her second child earlier this year. She later landed a role as a Fox News contributor, with her new position scheduled to begin on November 1. The source describes Leavitt as the youngest White House press secretary in history. Her departure is therefore a change of platform rather than an exit from public political messaging. The briefing room gets a new voice, while conservative television gains a familiar one.
