White House South Lawn during a security operation

Teen Arrested in Alleged White House UFC Drone-Sniper Plot After Mom Called Police

A mother’s call changed the pace of the case

The first serious alarm in this case did not come from a high-tech scanner, a secret informant, or one of the usual government press conferences that make everything sound neatly under control. It came from Tycen Proper’s mother, who called police on the night of June 10 because she feared what her son might do next. According to the complaint, she worried about his recent firearms purchases, ammunition, ballistic plates, and online activity, including posts tied to a Christian extremist group on TikTok and material sympathetic to Adolf Hitler. She also told police about his talk of “hit and run missions.” In other words, the family red flag was waving so hard that even the public safety system had to notice.

What investigators say was planned

The federal complaint says Proper, 19, of Danville, Ohio, told investigators on June 11 that he wanted to “jump-start” a revolution with an attack set for June 14. The plan, as alleged, involved drones carrying out bombings over the north side of the event area, with other members of the group assigned sniper roles near southern evacuation routes. Prosecutors say the group discussed “high value targets,” which is bureaucrat-speak for people they allegedly wanted to kill. The complaint says the scheme was aimed at an event at the White House where UFC was set to hold a mixed martial arts card on the South Lawn. That is a remarkable place to test the limits of federal security, unless the goal was to prove that every layer of modern protection still depends on someone, somewhere, acting before the paperwork arrives.

Names in the complaint reach deep into politics

Officials say the group identified several people as targets, including President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Elon Musk. Federal investigators also say the plan extended to members of Congress, with names that included Sens. Tom Cotton, Marsha Blackburn, Jim Justice, and Shelley Moore Capito, along with Reps. Carol Miller and Riley Moore. The complaint says the group viewed some politicians as supporting Israeli interests. It also notes that online rumors suggested Netanyahu might attend, but he did not. So the alleged plot mixed politics, ideology, and internet fog, which is a familiar recipe in the modern age. The only thing missing was a helpful disclaimer from social media telling everyone to take a step back and log off.

At least five arrests followed the investigation

Authorities say Proper’s case led to at least four additional arrests, including Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez in Nebraska, Bryan Omar Roa and Michael Alan Thomas in California, and Daniel Eskridge in Missouri. Proper allegedly described a conspirator known online as “Shepherd” as the group’s chief organizer, and the complaint says Alvarez used that name in encrypted chats while discussing targets in code. Proper was later hospitalized after authorities said he was experiencing homicidal ideations, and the charging documents say he now faces charges that include attempted murder of an officer or employee of the United States. That is the sort of charge that tends to make a person’s weekend plans a little less flexible.

FBI says it moved before the event started

The FBI said it learned of the alleged plot four days before the UFC event and moved with the Justice Department and local partners across multiple states. FBI Director Kash Patel said on X that the agency and its partners “stopped cold” what was allegedly being planned. Secret Service Director Sean Curran said the agency worked “around the clock” to identify those responsible and hold them accountable. The event itself was tied to former President Trump’s 80th birthday and to celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. So the White House had a patriotic stage, a big crowd, and, according to the complaint, a violent plot hovering over it. That is not exactly the kind of event security planners put on the brochure.
