Smokey Robinson Faces $50 Million Lawsuit Over Abuse Claims
Four former housekeepers have taken a stand. They filed a $50 million lawsuit against Motown legend Smokey Robinson. The allegations are stunning. They claim he sexually abused them over nearly 20 years.
The accusations center mostly on incidents at his home in Chatsworth, California. That’s north of downtown Los Angeles. The lawsuit was officially filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
An attorney for the women, John Harris, emphasized how serious the matter is. He told NBC News, “Obviously, no amount can compensate these women for what Mr. Robinson subjected them to.” He added that while $50 million might not be enough, it reflects the gravity of the claims.
The timeline starts back in 2007. One of the alleged victims, known as Jane Doe 4, claims the first assault occurred at Robinson’s Las Vegas residence. Later, around a decade after, she alleges another incident took place at a temporary home in Bell Canyon, as well as further abuse at his own house in Chatsworth.
The lawsuit paints a disturbing picture. It alleges that when other housekeepers left the home, Robinson would call one over to what the suit describes as his “blue bedroom.” Once there, he allegedly locked the door, set a towel on the bed, and then reportedly assaulted her, despite her protests.
This case is already drawing a lot of attention. The accusations, if proven true, could have lasting consequences for everyone involved.
