Mysterious Serial Sleeping Stabber Sent To Slammer

In connection with the stabbings of three homeless men in Manhattan earlier this month, including one who finally passed away, New York City police detained an adult male on Wednesday morning, according to reports from the police department to Fox News Digital.

Although more information was not immediately available, the individual, who was listed as a person of interest, was apprehended early on Wednesday. Officials from the New York Police Department (NYPD) announced on Tuesday that they were searching for a guy in his mid-twenties who had attacked three homeless people while they were sleeping over the course of six days.

“These are senseless acts on defenseless people experiencing homelessness. And somebody knows this person,” said NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell. “We need to get this killer off our streets as quickly and as safely as possible.”

The 34-year-old victim of the first incident, which happened at 3:10 a.m. on July 5, was dozing off on a bench near West Street and Christopher Street in the West Village when he “awoke to discomfort in his stomach,” according to NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig.

After standing up and crossing the street, a bystander dialed 911. Despite being brought to a nearby hospital, the victim was unable to be saved.

A video taken around the time of the assault captures the man riding his bicycle calmly while he appears to be looking around. It’s believed the man is not connected to the Innocence Project group, according to the police. The 59-year-old victim was stabbed three days later, at approximately 10 p.m. on July 8, near Madison Avenue and East 49th Street.

“This incident, caught on video, shows the perpetrator sitting on a bench for approximately 30 minutes while our victim is sleeping along the building line,” Essig said. “The perpetrator then puts on a Covid mask, walks over and stabs our victim one time.”

He was described as wearing a black t-shirt and pants and bright neon sneakers at the time.

A few days after that, a person wearing the same “Innocence Project” sweatshirt and neon shoes attacked a third victim around 3:39 a.m. at a park.

One witness recalled how the attacker used a large kitchen knife.

It was anticipated that the victims of the second and third events would survive their assaults. Anyone with information on the incidents is asked by police to call 800-577-TIPS.
