A wealthy Canadian executive and his family were caught in a violent home invasion early Thursday morning, after three masked suspects entered their multimillion-dollar residence in Toronto’s exclusive Bridle Path neighborhood.

The attack happened at approximately 3:43 a.m. on October 29 at a luxury home on Hyde Park Circle. The Bridle Path is known for sprawling mansions, wealthy residents, and elaborate private security. Apparently, even a very expensive address does not come with a force field.

Media reports identified the father as businessman David Morton. His wife was identified as Doriana Zohil, while their adult daughters were identified as Maggie and Cristina Zohil-Morton. Toronto police have not publicly confirmed the identities of the victims.

According to CityNews Toronto, the three masked suspects entered through a rear entrance while the family was inside. The suspects were armed with handguns, and at least one was carrying a hammer. The attackers reportedly demanded valuables before a violent struggle broke out inside the home.

Gunfire followed, and Morton and both daughters were struck. His wife was reportedly attacked with the hammer. All four family members were transported to a hospital after the assault. Police said two victims suffered life-altering injuries, while the other two sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Toronto Police Inspector Kristy Smith said the suspects escaped in an SUV after the confrontation. The three masked suspects had not been apprehended in the latest reports reviewed. Their identities, motive, and the amount of property taken were not publicly established in the source reports.

The home invasion comes as Toronto faces troubling figures involving similar crimes. The Globe and Mail reported that the city had recorded 119 home invasions in 2026, an increase of approximately 35 percent compared with the same period in 2025.

That trend makes the attack more than just a terrifying incident at one luxury residence. People should be able to sleep in their own homes without expecting armed intruders to come through a back door. A neighborhood can have grand houses, private security, and all the prestige money can buy, but none of that means much if criminals can still force their way inside.

For now, the family is dealing with the medical consequences of a brutal attack, while investigators continue looking for the three suspects who reportedly fled into the night.
