Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, has been arrested again, this time on serious felony charges tied to the alleged sexual exploitation of a child. According to court records cited in the report, the Garfield County case includes five felony counts connected to an alleged incident dated around January 1, 2024. The listed charges include sexual exploitation of a child, sexual exploitation of a child with intent to deal in, sell, or distribute sexually exploitative material, a related charge involving videotaped material, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Bond posted, next court date set
Boebert was taken into custody and later released from the Garfield County jail on Sunday after posting a $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 19 in Garfield County District Court. He later pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft under a plea agreement and is reportedly scheduled for another sentencing hearing in that matter on September 10. He also faces a September 4 sentencing in Weld County after pleading guilty to misdemeanor child abuse through criminal negligence without injury, connected to a 2025 incident involving his young son.

The arrest lands while Rep. Boebert is defending her seat in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District against Democrat Eileen Laubacher, a retired Navy veteran. She has also faced a public break with President Donald Trump after supporting Rep. Thomas Massie against Trump’s preferred candidate. Trump publicly threatened to withdraw his endorsement and support a primary challenger, while Boebert responded that Colorado’s filing deadline had already passed. After Tyler’s 2024 arrest, Rep. Boebert said her adult son should be held accountable for his decisions like any other citizen. The criminal case now belongs to the courts, though the political class will almost certainly try to turn it into campaign material.
