Justin Trudeau Reaches Out to Trump Following Tariff Announcement

Donald Trump has made a strong promise: he plans to sign an executive order that will impose a hefty 25% tariff on all products coming into the United States from Canada and Mexico. This is not just talk; it’s a serious step aimed at tackling issues that have been brewing for too long.

A Call for Action

In his own words, Trump stated, “Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!” It’s clear he believes these countries need to step up their game when it comes to border security and crime prevention.

The Border Crisis

As everyone is aware, thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing Crime and Drugs at levels never seen before. Right now a Caravan coming from Mexico, composed of thousands of people, seems to be unstoppable in its quest to come through our currently Open Border. On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders. This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country! Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!

Trudeau’s Quick Response

No sooner had Trump made his announcement than Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau jumped on the phone with him. According to reports from The Daily Mail, Trudeau reached out just two hours after Trump’s post about tariffs went live.

A Constructive Conversation?

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was reportedly quick to respond to US President-elect Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on Mexican, Canadian and Chinese goods as global currencies plummeted.

Just two hours after Trump posted the threats, Trudeau called Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate. The two had a constructive conversation focused on trade and security at the border according to an unidentified Canadian official with knowledge of the call told the New York Times.

The Canadian government then released a statement focusing on the deep ties between the US and Canadian economies.

Flavio Volpe, president of Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association – a Canadian industry group – also said he believed Trump’s posts were just a way to open negotiations that would eventually solidify Canada and the US as allies in a fight against China.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just about tariffs; it’s about sending a message loud enough for both neighbors—Mexico & Canada—to hear: America expects cooperation when it comes down protecting its borders. With drug trafficking becoming more rampant by day due largely because of weak policies elsewhere—it’s high time we take action!

A Stronger Stance Against China?

If you think about it strategically—this could also be part of something larger involving trade relations with China too! By strengthening ties between North American nations while putting pressure where needed—we might just create an alliance capable enough against any foreign adversary trying their luck here!
