Joe diGenova, a former U.S. Attorney under President Ronald Reagan, has resigned from the Justice Department after five months on the job, according to reports from ABC News, the Associated Press, and Politico. DiGenova had been tapped to oversee a Florida-based investigation tied to what has been called the Spygate or Russiagate probe. The reason for his resignation is not clear. DiGenova confirmed the move to the Associated Press, saying, “I did in fact resign,” and called it an “honor and a privilege” to serve in Trump’s DOJ. Earlier reporting said Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey were under FBI investigation over their roles in Russiagate. The Justice Department also removed Maria Medetis, a career federal prosecutor, earlier this year after complaints that charges against Brennan were being delayed.
