Biden-Appointed US Attorney Jessica Aber’s Tragic Death Unfolds
Jessica Aber was a force on the front lines. The former US Attorney for Virginia’s Eastern District, a Biden appointee, was found dead in her Alexandria home last Saturday morning. Her family has now revealed the cause of death.
A report stated that Aber, aged 43, was found unresponsive. Police responded to a call at about 9:18 a.m. on the 900 block of Beverley Drive. They located her and confirmed her identity. As the police noted, “This morning, at approximately 9:18 a.m., Alexandria Police responded to the 900 block of Beverley Drive for the report of an unresponsive woman. Officers located a deceased woman. Following notification of family members, the Alexandria Police Department can confirm the identity of the woman as Ms. Jessica Aber, age 43, former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.”
Her family said Jessica suffered from epilepsy and believes she passed away after an epileptic seizure. The medical examiner is expected to release more details in the coming weeks. For now, police say there is no sign of foul play and that she died of natural causes.
The family released a heartfelt statement: “It is with tremendous sorrow that we acknowledge the sudden passing of our beloved Jessica (Jess) Aber, who died in her sleep on Saturday, March 22. Jess suffered from epilepsy and epileptic seizures for many years and on Tuesday, March 25, Alexandria (Virginia) Police said in a statement that they believe her death was the result of natural causes. We expect more information from the medical examiner in the coming weeks. Our family is in shock and grieving deeply and we respectfully request privacy as we attempt to navigate through our unspeakable loss.”
Jessica Aber wasn’t just a legal professional—she was a hard hitter in the courtroom. She led a high-profile case against a former ABC journalist who went missing after the FBI raided his home. Read more about that here.
She also secured a guilty plea from ex-CIA analyst Asif Rahman, the man behind leaks that threatened American lives. Rahman had exposed top-secret details about Israel’s planned strike on Iran. Aber rightly condemned Rahman’s betrayal as a “violation of his oath, his responsibility, and the law,” warning of the severe risks such actions can cause to U.S. interests. You can see more on that here.
This story hits hard. It shows the real-life risks even top prosecutors face while taking on dangerous cases. Aber’s loss is a stark reminder that even in our fight for law and order, we feel deep personal and political impacts. Her work will be remembered as an example of uncompromising commitment to protecting America.
