DHS Says Milo Yiannopoulos Overstayed, ICE Arrested Him at New Orleans Airport

Media personality Milo Yiannopoulos was taken into ICE custody in Louisiana this week, according to the report. TMZ said inmate records showed he was being held at an ICE detention center, though the early details around the detention were not clear. Sources cited by TMZ said Yiannopoulos was detained at an airport. The report also noted his past role with Kanye West, saying he served as Ye’s chief of staff for nearly two years before the two parted ways in 2024. Kanye was scheduled to perform Friday night in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome, which may explain why Yiannopoulos was in Louisiana. DHS Gives Its Account

The Department of Homeland Security later released a statement saying ICE arrested Yiannopoulos on August 27 at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana. DHS identified him as an illegal alien from the United Kingdom. According to the department, Yiannopoulos legally entered the United States on May 14, 2019, through New York City, New York, but overstayed in violation of U.S. law. DHS also said an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for his immigration hearing. The department said he would remain in ICE custody pending removal, which is the kind of bureaucratic phrase that sounds bland until it means your travel plans now involve federal custody.

DHS warned that those who do not take that route may be arrested and deported without a chance to return.
