Comer Exposes Democrat Hypocrisy in Taxpayer Fueled El Salvador MS-13 Encounter

The Democrats’ Wild Trip to El Salvador Exposed

These Dem lawmakers are playing dangerous games. Four House Democrats hopped on a plane to El Salvador. Their aim? To help free a man with a sordid past—Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged wife-beater and MS-13 gang member.

Inspired by Senator Van Hollen, Reps. Robert Garcia (CA), Maxwell Frost (FL), Yassamin Ansari (AZ), and Maxine Dexter (OR) set off on Monday. Unlike them, Van Hollen’s trip was paid for with our tax dollars. He confirmed that hardworking American taxpayers footed his bill. Hard to swallow, right?

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a native of El Salvador, was ordered out of the US back in 2019. An immigration judge and an appellate court both backed that decision. The process was legit. But now, these Dems want to snatch him out of prison.

They even tried to pull a political stunt by visiting El Salvador without any official reason. Their trip turned sour when they were denied access. As Rep. Frost put it, “We got word at the embassy that our request has been denied by the government here locally because they say we are not here on official capacity,” Frost said before attacking Comer.

Things got even messier. Congresswoman Maxine Dexter declared she isn’t coming back until Abrego Garcia is released from the CECOT prison. That’s not a proper way to conduct official business.

Oversight Chairman James Comer made his stance clear. He told the Democrats they could pay their own way if they really cared to meet with the gang member. In a scathing letter, he wrote, “It is absurd that you both displayed active hostility for over two years toward the Committee’s oversight of the Biden Border Crisis and the consequences of millions of illegal aliens entering the country, yet now, you are seeking travel at Committee expense to meet with foreign gang members. You may be pleased to know that a Democrat Senator, Chris Van Hollen, was photographed just yesterday in El Salvador enjoying margaritas garnished with cherry slices with the foreign gang member your letter references.”

He added, “If you also wish to meet with him, you can spend your own money. But I will not approve a single dime of taxpayer funds for use on the excursion you have requested.”

The whole affair smacks of hypocrisy and reckless spending at taxpayers’ expense. It’s a stark reminder that some politicians are all talk—and no common sense.
