Young Victim Identified
The young woman found dead Saturday at a Mattapan property owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley has been identified as 18-year-old Yoseliani Marte. According to the report, Marte was found shot to death on the grounds of the residence after Boston police responded to a call about a deceased person at the property. The case is being handled as a death investigation, with the Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit taking over after officers arrived and secured the scene.
Property Owned by Pressley’s Husband
The home where Marte was found is owned by Conan Harris, the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley, a Democrat from Massachusetts. Pressley and Harris do not live at the Mattapan residence, according to the report. Police placed red crime tape around the scene as investigators began their work. There is no report that Pressley or Harris were present at the property when Marte was found.
Family Points to Domestic Violence
Marte’s family said in a GoFundMe statement that she died as a result of domestic violence. The family described her as deeply loved and said she had “so many dreams, hopes, and milestones still ahead of her.” They also wrote that her kindness, spirit, and future would not be forgotten. Their statement asked for support as they face the loss of a daughter whose life ended far too soon.
Condolences and Investigation
A spokesperson for Rep. Pressley said the congresswoman “extends her deepest condolences to the impacted family.” The investigation remains with Boston police, who were called to the property after the body was discovered Saturday afternoon. At the center of the story is not politics, but an 18-year-old woman whose family is now grieving a devastating loss and seeking comfort from their community.
