Fans booed President Joe Biden when he made an unexpected appearance at the Congressional Baseball Game Wednesday evening.
The GOP side of the stadium exploded in boos, some fans were even shouting, “Joe sucks,” as Biden, who was wearing a Beau Biden Foundation hat, was escorted to the field, according to The New York Post.
The president moved to the third-base dugout, where he talked with the members of the Democratic team as well as Nancy Pelosi.
After visiting with the Democrat team, Biden faced more booing as he made his way to the first-base dugout where he spent a little time with the GOP lawmakers.
Soon after the president left the field the Republican team hit an out-of-the-park home run, for a 13-12 win over the Democrats.
Biden canceled a planned trip to Chicago Wednesday in order to stay in Washington and push a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill through a key House vote.
Democrats’ intra-party divide with conservatives like Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin scrutinized the $3.5 reconciliation deal while leftists pledged to withhold support for the infrastructure bill if the larger package is not passed.
The bipartisan infrastructure bill has already passed through the Senate and now requires House approval before it goes on to the president. The larger package would require a Senate vote following House negotiations.
