Ryan Routh pleads not guilty to attempted assassination charges against Trump

Ryan Routh has pleaded not guilty to serious federal charges related to an alleged assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his golf club in Florida. This shocking incident raises questions about security and the safety of our leaders.

Court Appearance and Charges

On Monday, Routh, 58, showed up in a West Palm Beach federal court for his arraignment. It was a brief appearance that lasted less than five minutes. His lawyers entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

The judge overseeing the case is Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart. Interestingly, this is the same judge who signed off on the search warrant for Trump’s Mar-a-Lago documents case. Talk about a tangled web!

Routh was previously charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and having a gun with an obliterated serial number due to events at Trump International Golf Club on September 15. But things escalated quickly from there.

New Indictments and Serious Allegations

Last week, prosecutors hit Routh with three additional charges: attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate, possessing a firearm during a violent crime, and assaulting a federal officer. These are serious accusations that can’t be taken lightly.

Currently, he remains behind bars without bail as the legal process unfolds.

Evidence Suggests Premeditation

The prosecution claims there is “probable cause” for even more charges against Routh. They revealed that he had compiled a list with dates from August to October detailing venues where Trump had appeared or was expected to be present. It’s alarming to think he may have traveled near Trump’s golf course and Mar-a-Lago multiple times leading up to his arrest.

Ryan Routh's Mugshot

The government also disclosed that Routh allegedly sent a letter months before his arrest stating, “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you.” That sounds like clear intent!

A Day at the Golf Course Turns Dangerous

The government argues that Routh’s presence in West Palm Beach on September 15 was solely for one purpose: to kill the former President of the United States.

On that fateful day, while Trump enjoyed a round of golf, Secret Service agents spotted something alarming—a gun barrel poking out from the tree line near the sixth green! Thanks to vigilant agents, what could have been an unimaginable tragedy was avoided.

The agent fired in the direction of where they saw the rifle and witnessed Routh fleeing towards his car—definitely not how one should behave if just enjoying some fresh air!

The Scene Unfolds

In addition to finding him trying to escape, investigators uncovered some disturbing items near where he was seen hiding: A digital camera, two bags (including a backpack), and notably—a loaded SKS-style 7.62×39 caliber rifle equipped with a scope were all found nearby.
