Plagiarism Hunter Finds Numerous Lifted Passages in Harris Book

Vice President Kamala Harris, who co-wrote a book on crime, is facing serious accusations of plagiarism. An Austrian professor known for exposing academic cheating, Dr. Stefan Weber—often called the “plagiarism hunter”—claims he found over a dozen instances where material was copied in her 2009 book.

Details of the Allegations

Christopher Rufo from the Manhattan Institute has reported that Harris allegedly lifted content from various sources without giving proper credit. For instance, she reportedly used information from a 2008 NBC News article about graduation rates in city schools without citing it. Additionally, several paragraphs were taken nearly word-for-word from a press release by John Jay College of Criminal Justice regarding efforts to tackle illegal drug markets. Even descriptions of nonprofit organizations seem to have been borrowed directly from an Urban Institute report.

The Wikipedia Issue

Perhaps most troubling are claims that Harris copied long sections straight from Wikipedia without any citation at all. In one part discussing a New York court program, she allegedly used extensive passages verbatim from this online encyclopedia. This raises significant questions about how accurate and trustworthy her book really is.

Citing Reports Without Credit

Harris also supposedly took descriptions of crime-ridden neighborhoods in West Palm Beach directly from a Bureau of Justice Assistance report focused on community court programs. According to Rufo, these acts are as severe as those found in former Harvard president Claudine Gay’s doctoral thesis scandal.

The Ghostwriter Defense?

While it’s common for public figures to use ghostwriters when drafting books, this doesn’t let Harris off the hook. As Rufo emphasizes, she put her name on the cover and should be held accountable for what’s inside.

A Pattern of Borrowing Ideas

This isn’t the first time Kamala Harris has faced criticism for borrowing ideas instead of coming up with original ones. During an August rally in Las Vegas, she was slammed for copying former President Donald Trump’s proposal to eliminate taxes on tips—a plan he announced back in June. This pattern raises red flags about her originality and creativity as a leader.

Lack of Integrity Raises Concerns

The allegations against Harris highlight serious concerns about her integrity and credibility as a public figure. It’s alarming that someone holding such high office would engage in unethical practices like plagiarism or fail to generate their own ideas while looking towards political opponents like Trump for inspiration.

The Leadership Question

This plagiarism scandal reveals much about Kamala Harris’s character and calls into question her ability to lead effectively. The American people deserve leaders who are honest and innovative—not those who resort to copying others’ work or ideas without acknowledgment.

No matter his flaws, President Trump has consistently shown himself as a strong leader who prioritizes America first with fresh ideas and solutions tailored specifically for our nation’s challenges—something we can all appreciate during these times!
