Pelosi Takes Aim at Trump Again
At a Capitol ceremony for a plaque honoring Capitol Police, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi used part of her remarks to return to January 6 and blame President Trump for the riot at the Capitol. She said the plaque would stand as a tribute to officers who protected Congress, then repeated her view that Trump incited an insurrection. Trump was never charged with insurrection, which is one of those small details Washington tends to leave in the hallway.
The Security Fight Never Went Away
The bigger argument around January 6 still has plenty of life. Critics point to reports that security officials were warned about possible trouble ahead of time and say the National Guard was not used the way many expected. Pelosi has denied that she personally refused Guard support, while others say the decisions were shaped by politics and confusion, two things that rarely need an introduction in Washington. The result is a familiar Capitol routine: everyone says they want answers, and everyone hopes the filing cabinet eats the receipts.
Old Footage Keeps Fueling the Debate
The fight was revived again after video released in 2024 showed Pelosi saying, “I take responsibility.” Supporters said the clip was being stripped of context, while critics said it showed the blame game is more tangled than the official talking points admit. Pelosi also repeated her account of being rushed from the House floor and described the fear and disruption felt by her staff. However people slice it, January 6 remains one of the most contested days in recent political memory, with each side armed with clips, claims, and a deep dislike of the other side’s version of events.
