Nicki Minaj Takes Aim at Gavin Newsom Over Transgender Policy

California Governor Gavin Newsom has dreams of a White House run, but his strong support for transgender policies targeting children may have hit a celebrity-sized roadblock. Typically, Hollywood stars echo progressive politics, but music superstar Nicki Minaj isn’t playing along.

Recently, rapper Nicki Minaj lambasted Newsom for his aggressive push on “gender-affirming” surgeries for minors. This issue has been brewing—parents and conservatives are outraged. But the most jaw-dropping critique came from Minaj.

From the Daily Wire: Rapper Nicki Minaj has been engaged in a public back-and-forth with California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, calling him out for his radical stance on “gender affirming” surgery for minors, among other things… “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that,” Minaj posted on Friday morning in response to the clip. “Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav, The Gav Nots, GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored.”

Minaj, a dominant force in music with a massive fanbase, tore into Newsom, calling him “wicked and evil.” Her comments went viral, urging attention to Newsom’s claim of being the top advocate for pro-trans laws.

During an interview on The Ezra Klein Show, Newsom bragged, “I want to see trans kids… There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have.” Minaj countered that most people just want happy, healthy kids—not political pawns.

She took a swipe at Newsom’s curated image, dubbing him “the cute boy who got everything handed to him,” and dismissed his presidential hopes with a sharp retort: “His next mission IS impossible.” Oof.

In an attempt to clap back, Newsom posted a video on X featuring Trump and Epstein, aiming the diss track “Hiss” at Minaj. But it backfired. Minaj mocked the move to her millions of followers, declaring, “Dear Barbz, Pls protect me from that wicked & evil man.” Her message: politicians might self-destruct by picking wrong battles.

The most remarkable part? Minaj publicly supported President Trump, retweeting a video of him at the Army-Navy game with pride. Even The Washington Post was struck by her newfound embrace of conservative values.

This shift in celebrity culture is significant. When powerhouses like Minaj, with audiences larger than many news outlets, challenge progressive policies, it signals a major cultural shift. Newsom banking on transgender activism for political gain seems increasingly futile. As Minaj aptly put it: “It’s the end of the road for you, my love.” Well said, Nicki.
