Fox News Smackdown: Weingarten Gets Called Out
America’s reputation took another hit when one of its biggest villains got an epic beating on Fox News. Randi Weingarten, the so-called champion of failing public schools, defended her indefensible record and even dared to insult her host.
Weingarten’s track record is a disaster. As head of the American Federation of Teachers, she’s been at the center of the push to trap us in underperforming schools and avoid holding crooked school officials accountable. She was also one of the loudest advocates for shutting down schools during COVID-19—a move that hurt our kids’ learning abilities and left long-lasting damage.
On Fox News’s “The Story with Martha MacCallum,” she was grilled about public school failures and the mess of pornographic books creeping into school libraries. The conversation quickly turned into a showdown when MacCallum fired back hard against Weingarten for criticizing school choice and suggesting we simply throw more money at a broken system.
“So, if we can find other areas around the country where the proficiency levels are also ABYSMAL and should be embarrassing to every education organization, then we can start making assessments and say it’s because of (school) choice or money,” MacCallum said. “We know that money does not equate to a better outcome.”
Things got even more heated when MacCallum cited a New Jersey example that hammered Weingarten’s claims. Out of frustration, Weingarten tried to patronize the anchor, saying, “Martha, Martha, sweetheart,” before MacCallum snapped back, “Don’t call me sweetheart!”

Weingarten quickly backtracked with a weak apology. She then tried to argue that conservatives have flip-flopped on education funding. MacCallum didn’t let that slide and reminded everyone of the real facts.
“They (conservatives) wanted to go to different programs; school choice programs and give (money) to parents who want to homeschool their kids,” MacCallum said. Weingarten kept babbling about how public school funding supposedly helps primarily red districts. She even pointed to Mississippi, claiming it as a shining example of improvement.
But MacCallum wasn’t having any of it. “One of the things they have done in Mississippi is to expand (school) choice,” she said. “They’re also doing something really important, which is to expand teacher training because they understand that teachers themselves do not understand the things they are supposed to be teaching.”
The reality is as clear as day: Our kids have been left behind over the past 20 years. We see it in colleges. We see it in classrooms where kids are pushed through broken systems. As one teacher put it, “I was talking to a teacher…she said ‘I can’t hold a kid back who can’t read.’”
This isn’t just another partisan squabble. It’s a wake-up call to all Americans who demand better for our children and our future.
