Josh Hawley Criticizes Wray and Mayorkas for Government Silence on Drone Sightings

Senator Hawley Calls for Accountability on Drone Sightings

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) is stepping up to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas accountable. He’s not happy with their silence regarding the strange surge of drone sightings in New Jersey and other parts of the Northeast. The lack of transparency, especially after a key security hearing was canceled, has left many lawmakers and citizens frustrated.

Concerns Over Canceled Hearing

In an interview with Fox News, Hawley voiced his worries about Wray and Mayorkas skipping the annual “Worldwide Threats to the Homeland” hearing, which was supposed to take place on November 20. This hearing is vital for senators to question top officials about national security threats. Now that it has been postponed to an unspecified date in December—and we’re already halfway through the month—people are understandably uneasy.

Hawley stated, “The director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, and the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, were supposed to testify under oath in the Senate on threats to the homeland. They canceled it a couple of weeks ago; they have refused to re-schedule.” Instead of a public hearing, aides from these departments are offering a closed-door briefing this Thursday. Hawley argues that this approach lacks the transparency that Americans deserve.

Bizarre Secrecy Raises Eyebrows

Hawley didn’t hold back when discussing this unusual secrecy. He remarked, “They do not want to talk about this in public. They don’t want to answer questions about it. This is really weird and it’s getting weirder.” It’s hard not to agree with him—when government officials avoid public scrutiny, it raises serious questions.

Bipartisan Demand for Answers

Hawley isn’t alone in his quest for answers. Senator Gary Peters (D-MI), who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, also criticized the decision to cancel the hearing. Peters called it a “shocking departure,” pointing out that it’s been 15 years since both heads of the FBI and DHS skipped providing public testimony on national security threats. He believes that American citizens are being denied crucial information about their safety.

The Mystery Deepens

The ongoing mystery surrounding these drone sightings has only fueled speculation and frustration among Americans. Hawley highlighted conflicting statements from Biden Administration officials like Mayorkas and National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby. They’ve attributed these sightings to misidentified civilian drones or aircraft—but Hawley isn’t convinced. “When we’re shutting down Air Force bases, when commercial airliners are interfered with, that’s weird,” he said. “You can’t tell me the government doesn’t know what’s going on.”

A Call for Transparency

Many share Hawley’s concerns about these drone incidents being a serious threat to national security. The lack of accountability from the Biden Administration combined with postponed hearings only adds more confusion. The American people deserve clear answers about what is happening in their skies, and Senator Hawley is determined to get them.
