Assemblyman Bergen Calls Out White House Spokesman
A New Jersey state legislator didn’t pull any punches when he criticized White House spokesman John Kirby’s comments about the recent drone activity in the Garden State. Republican State Assemblyman Brian Bergen called Kirby an “idiot” after Kirby claimed that the drones were simply “manned aircraft being operated lawfully.” During a segment on “America Reports,” co-host John Roberts asked Bergen about this baffling statement. Bergen didn’t hold back, responding, “That guy is an idiot. That I can tell you right now.”
The Drones: A Real Threat
Bergen, who is also a former Apache helicopter pilot, shared alarming information from the state police. He revealed that one of their helicopters had to land because they felt unsafe due to a six-foot-wide drone hovering above them. Bergen mentioned that he had even spotted these drones in his own neighborhood, expressing his frustration with how little action has been taken to tackle this urgent issue.
Comparisons to the Chinese Spy Balloon Incident
Bergen drew parallels between the recent drone sightings and last year’s incident involving a Chinese spy balloon that flew over the U.S. before being shot down off South Carolina’s coast. He emphasized the need for quick action, urging authorities to track down the source of these drones before it escalates into something much worse.
“We need people to take action,” Bergen told Roberts. “I’m telling you, it’s a big issue. I hope at the end of the day we find out that it was nothing, but right now, everybody is calling for action and people are not doing enough to address the problem.”
Frustration with Government Response
Bergen also voiced his disappointment regarding the sluggish response from state authorities in acquiring technology from the Department of Homeland Security to track these drones more effectively. He noted that they were promised this technology within two days, but he insisted it should have been implemented immediately.
A Lighthearted Ending with Military Pride
In classic Trump style, Bergen ended the interview with a playful jab, saying, “Well, go Army, beat Navy, that’s what I would say in this regard,” highlighting his military background with pride.
