Indictment Names Hillary Clinton and Daniel Richman as Comey’s Anonymous Sources

Report: ‘PERSON 1’ and ‘PERSON 3’ in Bombshell Comey Indictment Revealed

  • New reporting names Hillary Clinton as PERSON 1 and Daniel Richman as PERSON 3.
  • The indictment accuses James Comey of authorizing leaks and lying under oath.
  • This story heightens concerns about FBI politicization and accountability.

As the indictment against former FBI Director James Comey lands, Republican commentators see it as overdue accountability for a man who long acted above the rules. New reporting points squarely at Hillary Clinton as PERSON 1 and Comey confidant Daniel Richman as PERSON 3, which, if true, ties top-level political actors to secretive leaks. That allegation paints a picture of the FBI being used to shape narratives rather than to seek neutral truth.

ABC News links and reporting from RedState’s Rusty Weiss are both cited as pointing to Clinton and Richman respectively, and those connections change the stakes of the charges. The Department of Justice alleges Comey authorized PERSON 3 to act as an anonymous source — a serious breach if proven. Republicans will argue this proves the FBI was weaponized to protect allies and embarrass opponents.

We’re seeing reporting that ABC News senior investigative reporter Mike Levine confirmed sources identifying the figures involved.

Levine’s follow-up pushed the story further by saying his sources confirmed the identities and the indictment’s claims about lies under oath. The document cited in reporting accuses Comey of falsely denying he authorized someone to be an anonymous source about an investigation tied to PERSON 1. The core allegation is simple: Comey told the Senate one thing and apparently did another.

…personal lawyer, Daniel Richman, provide information to reporters about an FBI investigation connected to Hillary Clinton.

In the indictment, Count 1 says that Comey “willfully and knowingly” lied when, testifying under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee in September 2020, he reaffirmed previous Senate testimony insisting he never “authorized someone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports” about an investigation connected to someone only identified as “PERSON 1.”

“That statement was false, because, as JAMES B. COMEY JR. then and there knew, he in fact had authorized PERSON 3 to serve as an anonymous source in news reports regarding [the] FBI investigation,” the indictment reads.

Sources tell ABC News that “PERSON 1” is Clinton and “PERSON 3” is Richman.

Additional reporting alleges Richman acted as Comey’s back channel, correcting stories and shaping press coverage while serving in a sensitive role. That behavior, if accurate, fits a troubling pattern of insiders leaking selectively to influence public perception. For Republicans who have argued the FBI was biased, these claims will feel like validation.

Some readers will distrust ABC and mainstream outlets, and skeptics on the left will call this a hit piece, but the allegations come straight from an official indictment and deserve scrutiny. This case will test whether political elites face the same consequences as ordinary citizens. For now, grab your popcorn because the legal and political drama is just beginning.
