Tragic Birthday Party Shooting in Stockton Leaves Four Dead
Saturday evening experienced a devastating turn of events when a mass shooting shattered a child’s birthday celebration in Stockton, leaving four people dead and injuring ten others. The victims included both adults and children, some as young as eight. This joyful gathering turned into chaos around 6 p.m. at a banquet hall on Lucile Avenue.
Authorities from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office describe the attack as targeted, but the reasons behind it remain murky. Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee expressed his heartbreak and anger, posting on Facebook about the tragedy, “Tonight, my heart is heavy in a way that’s hard to put into words… An ice cream shop should never be a place where families fear for their lives.”
He further noted the profound personal impact, stating, “Violence touched my life as a young person, and seeing our own children, parents, and neighbors go through this shakes me deeply… Our community deserves to know the truth, and the families impacted deserve justice and every resource available to support them.”
Initial reports mistakenly identified the location as a Dairy Queen, but it was corrected to a nearby banquet hall.
No arrests have been made yet, and those responsible are still free. The FBI has joined forces with local authorities in unraveling this tragic crime.
Stockton’s Mayor Christina Fugazi commended first responders for their swift action, saying, “Their professionalism reflects the very best of our city.” She assured, “As Mayor, I am ensuring every necessary resource is available and that our city supports this effort at every level.”
In a statement, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office urged the public to come forward with any information or footage related to the incident to aid in identifying the culprits and bringing justice to those affected.
