California’s far-left governor, Gavin Newsom, has surprisingly thrown his support behind Elon Musk and SpaceX. This private spaceflight company is a powerhouse in the U.S. space industry, handling most of our launches and leading the charge in the space race. Recently, SpaceX filed a lawsuit against a California state commission, claiming political bias that is blocking its launch plans off the Pacific coast.
Newsom Takes a Stand for SpaceX
“I’m with Elon,” Gov. Newsom said during an interview after campaigning for VP Kamala Harris in North Carolina. He expressed his discontent with how things were being handled by saying “I didn’t like that.”
This past Tuesday, SpaceX took legal action in federal court against the California Coastal Commission (CCC) over claims of political discrimination.
The Lawsuit Explained
The lawsuit comes after CCC decided to block SpaceX’s plans to ramp up rocket launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base located in Santa Barbara County.
SpaceX’s lawyers argue that this decision was made due to political differences with Musk—who openly supports Trump and criticizes Democrats for their harmful policies like open borders and reckless spending.
The lawsuit accuses CCC’s 12 members of engaging in blatant political discrimination when they halted a proposal from the Department of Defense (DOD) to increase launches at Vandenberg from 36 to 50 per year.
“Rarely has a government agency made so clear that it was exceeding its authorized mandate to punish a company for the political views and statements of its largest shareholder and CEO,” reads part of the lawsuit.
Acknowledgment from Newsom
Gov. Newsom acknowledged that he wasn’t helping SpaceX’s case but emphasized that politics should not interfere with decisions about rocket launches at military bases. He pointed out that an independent agency should have been involved instead.
The Importance of SpaceX for National Security
Unlike many Democrats who overlook it, Newsom understands how crucial SpaceX is for national security rocket programs. In fact, Musk’s company essentially represents America’s space program today regarding total mass launched into low Earth orbit. Next year, they will even rescue Boeing’s stranded crew at the International Space Station!
According to data from BryceTech, just this past quarter alone, SpaceX launched 525 spacecraft into orbit—far surpassing both China and Russia!
Musk Outpaces Global Competitors
Musk truly leads America’s rocket program: In just one quarter, he managed to launch around 429,125 kg worth of spacecraft! Compare this with China’s measly 29,426 kg—it’s clear who’s winning here!
The Role of Starlink in Success
A big part of this success stems from deploying thousands of Starlink satellites providing high-speed internet worldwide—a game changer!
The Left’s Attack on Free Speech?
Jonathan Turley recently noted:
“The left will now kill jobs”, cancel national security programs and gut the Constitution as they relentlessly pursue Musk because his very existence challenges their anti-free speech agenda.
If Democrats are indeed trying to undermine America’s space program by using government power against Musk while slowing down vital rocket launches—it raises serious concerns about our national security! We need more discussions about whether these radical far-left agendas are influenced by foreign adversaries competing against us—like China.
