Georgia Officer Fired After Controversial Library Incident
In Georgia, a police officer’s career took a nosedive following a heated incident at a local library. Officer Glen Weaver found himself in hot water after responding to a mother’s plea about a man in the women’s bathroom. Center Square reports he was dismissed from the DeKalb County Police Department.
The chaos began when Sarah Rose Swinton, a transgender individual, entered the women’s restroom, sparking concern from a mother of two. Swinton claims Weaver said, “That’s the women’s restroom and you’re not a woman. That’s obvious.”
Internal records obtained by The Center Square show the officer confronted Swinson about using the women’s restroom after a mother with two children complained to security. Former Officer Glen Weaver, speaking publicly for the first time, said he stands by his actions.

Despite the first-time violation typically warranting just a reprimand, the police agency decided to terminate Weaver. But Weaver remains unapologetic. “There were women and children in the bathroom when he was in there,” he insisted. His stance echoes concerns many parents share, “there would have been an issue.”
In a stark portrayal of the incident, security officer Victor Reed noted, “She [a mother] had a look on her face like something was wrong. She asked, ‘How can we allow men to go into a women’s restroom?’” Yet, the library’s policy allows individuals freedom of choice in using restrooms.
Documents from the investigation reveal a disconnect in Weaver’s account and the media’s portrayal. “Cops are supposed to have tough skin, right?” Weaver said, defending himself from accusations of being anti-transgender.
The situation shines a light on the broader debate regarding bathroom policies, safety, and gender identity. Beth Parlato from the Independent Women’s Law Center supported Weaver’s actions, claiming he stood for “truth and common sense.”
Swinton expressed surprise over the grown controversy, claiming no one mentioned the woman’s complaint during the probe. “That’s the basic problem right there,” Swinton said, “they’re viewing me as a male when I’m not.”
Weaver, a 28-year police veteran, speculated his firing was due to “a woke type of environment” pressuring leadership to act.
