Ex-‘The Voice’ Star Kata Hay Arrested for Vehicular Homicide
Once lighting up the stage on NBC’s ‘The Voice,’ Kata Hay, legally known as Kata Huddleston, now stands amidst a legal storm. On December 17, following a multi-state effort, Hay was taken into custody in Oklahoma. Her arrest follows an incident earlier this month in Tennessee where she’s accused of causing a fatal hit-and-run while allegedly driving under the influence.
The scene was grim near Long Hollow Pike in Goodlettsville. Hay is suspected of hitting two vehicles and fleeing, leaving chaos in her wake. The crash tragically claimed the life of 82-year-old Gayle Nichols on December 12, 2025. With Nichols’ death, authorities upgraded Hay’s charges to vehicular homicide.
The Goodlettsville Police shared a somber image of Hay in a black-and-white prison jumpsuit, intensifying the search across state lines. Ultimately, she was found and booked into the Osage County Jail.

With her arrest, Hay’s past brushes with the law re-emerge. She was previously convicted in 2017 for DUI, a charge she was still serving probation for at the time of the latest events.
From belting out tunes on season 10 of ‘The Voice’ to facing serious allegations, Hay’s journey pulls at the strings of public curiosity and media scrutiny. Her initial sparkle seems dimmed by these unfolding events. Whether justice or redemption lies ahead, only time and courts will tell.
