Brutal Street Attack in Seattle Leaves Woman Permanently Injured
In Seattle, where concerns about crime are reaching a breaking point, a 75-year-old woman tragically lost an eye after being viciously attacked. Jeanette Marken was standing on a downtown street corner when 42-year-old Fale Vaigalepa Pea hit her with a wooden club embedded with a screw.
The assault happened in full view, captured by surveillance cameras as Pea swung the improvised weapon with both hands. Witnesses rushed to Marken’s aid, and she was taken to the hospital but couldn’t recover her eyesight, as shared by family members with KOMO News.
Pea is no stranger to violence, with a criminal record bulging with assault, weapon misuse, and property destruction charges. Despite his history, previous punishments, like a mere 18 months of community custody for a stabbing incident in 2011, did little to deter him.

KOMO News reported on this latest incident, underscoring the city’s struggle to manage repeat offenders like Pea, who become known to law enforcement yet continue to roam the streets.
“To take a wood club with nails and hit her at full force in the face? I don’t understand it,” expressed Andrius Dyrikis, Marken’s son, voicing the community’s confusion and outrage.
Conversations among officers reveal the nonchalance with which Pea’s actions were once perceived, highlighting the dangerous complacency toward such offenders.
